The Wounded Heart Meets the Healer

Welcome to healing… where we’re all a little messy and a little broken, but God picks up the shattered pieces and puts them back together.

Sometimes, though, in the middle of our brokenness and in the thick of our mess, it can feel like we’re all alone – just sitting with the wreckage of our reality.

Sometimes it’s self-inflicted. We make horrific choices that lead us into chaos. We create our own trauma, and it affects those around us.

But sometimes… it’s out of our control. Things have been done to us, or around us,that cause deep, intense pain.

If either of these describe you, I want you to know:

YOU are NOT alone.

This is the beginning of a blog series where we’ll journey together to explore what trauma really is and how God, in His mercy, uses even the most painful parts of our story to draw us closer to Him. You’re invited to walk this road with us, one post at a time, as we discover the healing heart of Jesus.

Buckle up, sister. It’s about to get bumpy.

Naming the Ache

Before healing begins, we have to name what hurts.

Not just the surface stuff – the stress, the exhaustion, the “I’m fine” we whisper through clenched teeth. I’m talking about the ache underneath. The one that lingers in quiet moments. The one that shows up in our reactions, our relationships, our restlessness.

Sometimes it’s a wound from long ago that never got the care it needed.

Sometimes it’s fresh – raw from betrayal, loss, or disappointment.

Sometimes it’s hard to name because it’s buried under years of survival.

But here’s the truth:

God doesn’t heal what we pretend isn’t broken.

He meets us in the honesty. In the naming. In the brave whisper of, “This hurts.”

So today, we start there.

Take a moment and pull out a notebook and pen.

Journal your thoughts.

  • What aches in your heart?
  • What memory stings when you least expect it?
  • What lie have you believed about yourself for too long?

You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to fix it.

You just have to name it.

And trust that the Healer is already near.

What Is Trauma?

Trauma is any experience that overwhelms your heart, mind, or body – leaving you feeling unsafe, unseen, or undone. It’s not just about what happened; it’s about how it impacted you.

It can come from a single moment or a long season.

It can be something done to you, something you witnessed, or something you endured silently.

It can leave you feeling shattered, confused, or numb.

But here’s the thing:

God is not afraid of your trauma.

He doesn’t flinch at your pain.

He draws near to the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).

Trauma may shape your story, but it doesn’t get to define it.

God does.

And He’s writing redemption into every chapter… even the ones you thought were too messy to be used.

Jesus, the Healer Who Sees

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…” — Isaiah 61:1

This verse isn’t just poetic – it’s personal. It’s the mission of Jesus, spoken through prophecy and fulfilled in His ministry. He didn’t come only to forgive sin. He came to restore what was shattered. To bind up hearts torn by grief, betrayal, trauma, and shame.

Jesus doesn’t rush past the wreckage.

He kneels beside it.

He sees the ache behind your smile, the story behind your silence, the wound behind your walls. And he doesn’t flinch. He stays. He touches the broken places with tenderness and truth.

Healing isn’t always instant. Sometimes it’s a slow, sacred unfolding. But it begins here – with a Savior who sees you, knows you, and refuses to leave you in pieces.

This isn’t a sprint. It’s a gentle journey. You’re invited to walk it with me – one step, one story, one Scripture at a time.

My prayer:

“Jesus, meet us in the places we’ve buried. Speak life where silence has lingered. Amen.”

And a journaling prompt to carry with you:

“Where do I feel unseen and what might Jesus say to me there?”
