Jesus, Be the Name
There’s just something ’bout Your name.
There’s just something ’bout Your name.
There’s just something ’bout Your name
that makes me cry, “Holy.”
There is no other name.
There is no other name.
There is no other name.
Jesus, You’re worthy.

Oh, how I want the name of Jesus to be the only name we allow to define us… the only name we give any authority in our lives. Because in this world, we are consumed by other influences.
Social media.
The news.
Family dysfunction.
Trauma.
Things our friends have said about us… things our family has said about us… even comments from random people we barely know.
With all the noise rising around us, it becomes easy for the most important voice to be drowned out.
We have this increasingly common habit of defining ourselves by how others see us… our flaws, the areas where we don’t feel naturally gifted, our personality quirks – even the way we spoke to someone in passing last week that keeps haunting us and won’t let us stop overthinking.
Our failures. Our mistakes. The addictions we may struggle with – food, video games, lust, porn, drugs, alcohol. Our previous relationships.
All of these things can speak louder in our lives than the voice that matters most.
But where the world says we’re weird, the Bible tells us that before the foundation of the world was laid, He chose us. (Ephesians 1:4-5)
Where the world says we’re weak, we are reminded that His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Where the world says we’ll never amount to anything, God calls us His workmanship, created with purpose. (Ephesians 2:10)
Where the world tells us we’re disqualified, God says He’s made us new – and our story becomes our testimony.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
“He lifted me out of the slimy pit… set my feet on a rock… and put a new song in my mouth.” (Psalm 40:2-3)
Where the world sees us as unlovable, God says He has loved us with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3)
And nothing – nothing – can separate us from His love. (Romans 8:38-39)
Where the world sees us as unwanted, God claims us as His:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; You are Mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)
Where the world says we’re a failure, God says, “You may have made mistakes… but if you belong to Me, I’m not holding those things against you.”
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
“As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)
And this is why His name matters.
This is why His name is the one we cling to, the one we run to, the one we allow to speak over every part of our story.
Because every other voice will try to label us, limit us, or define us by what we’ve done… but Jesus defines us by what He has done.
Every other name will fade.
Every other opinion will shift.
Every other influence will eventually lose its power.
But the name of Jesus… the name above every name – is the only name strong enough to hold our identity, the only name gentle enough to heal our wounds, and the only name worthy enough to shape who we are becoming.
So may His name be the loudest in our lives.
May His voice rise above every other influence.
And may we stand confidently in the truth that Jesus is the name that defines us – now and forever.
